todayscountry94one is very fortunate to have an extremely talented and professional team of Board Members – our Board is as follows:

David Bacon (Chair, Public Officer and Director responsible for Sponsorship, Administration and Governance)

David Bacon is an experienced Chief Executive, Director and senior executive, having worked in Australia and the United Kingdom.  David is currently Chairman of Pacific Link Community Housing Association Limited and Public Relations Director of Gosford City Rotary Club.

After an active broadcasting and journalism career in Australia, David spent almost a decade in London working in the fast moving consumer goods industry as a communications specialist and advocate before returning to Australia in 1999.  He became Chief Executive of the Federation of Australian Radio Broadcasters (now Commercial Radio Australia) and was later General Manager of Radio 2UE Sydney before becoming Director of Corporate Affairs at Southern Cross Broadcasting’s Melbourne head office.

David is experienced in governance, particularly in the radio broadcasting sector, having guided the commercial radio industry through its response to the “cash for comment” scandal.  He was Deputy Chair of the Central Coast’s largest independent charity for five years, the United Way Central Coast Community Chest, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Norah Head Lighthouse Reserve Trust and a charter member of the Rotary Club of Gosford City.  He is a Senior Fellow Corporate Directors’ Association.

Rod McCormack (Vice Chairman)

Rod McCormack is one of Australia’s leading record producers, songwriters and musicians.

Rod has produced many award winning, gold selling albums for artists such as Paul Kelly, Adam Harvey, Gina Jeffreys, Beccy Cole, Troy Cassar Daley and many others.

He has toured extensively throughout the world winning numerous awards, including many Golden Guitar awards; Producer, Musician of the year, APRA songwriter awards, and International Musician Awards in the States.

Rod runs his own recording studio “The Music Cellar” on the Central Coast of NSW, which hosts the cream of Australia’s talent and continues to be integral in helping develop the careers of many of Australia’s emerging stars.

 

Ron Sinclair (Director Responsible for Technical Matters)

Ron Sinclair is an Inspector in the NSW Fire Brigades and is the Duty Commander for the Central Coast Zone.  In this role he is responsible for fourteen fire stations around the Central Coast.  He is also the manager of the NSW Fire Brigades City to Surf running team and the President of Forresters Bushrangers – a community group based in Forresters Beach. 

Ron is a part-time performer in the music industry and has performed consistently over the past 30 years.

 

 

Wendy McCormack (Board Member)

Wendy McCormack’s career has always centred on the media – firstly radio, then the print media and full circle back to radio.

Wendy worked in commercial radio before moving to newspapers, as a journalist with ACP and then News Ltd. She went on to become Editor of a number of newspapers and was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Cumberland Newspaper Group in Sydney. She was also seconded to Brisbane as acting Editor-in-Chief and later as consulting Editor-in-Chief in Melbourne.

Herself the recipient of several awards, Wendy has judged national and international newspaper awards and twice served on the judging panel of Australia’s most prestigious journalism awards, the Walkleys.

A former Central Coast Woman of the Year, Wendy is now a freelance writer and has also published a biography of a colourful Australian identity.

She was formerly a member of Gosford Regional Gallery and City Arts Centre Advisory Council to Gosford City Council and was named on the 2004 International Women’s Day Central Coast Significant Women’s Register – ‘Women Who Have Made a Difference’.

Wendy was involved in community radio in Port Stephens, working in a number of roles, both on and off air, before joining the todayscountry94one team.

Meredith Savins (Finance Director)

Meredith Savins , who has joined the Board of todayscountry94one as its Finance Director, has a strong connection to the Central Coast, having lived here as a child.

She moved back to the area in 1995 and since 2000 has been self-employed, providing management and system accounting services to businesses throughout the Central Coast.

Meredith has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Sydney, as well as a postgraduate degree in IT from the University of Southern Queensland. She has been a CPA member since 1994 and Public Practitioner since 2000.

Meredith spent 15 years in company and systems accounting roles in various corporates and multinationals before establishing her own business.

A past Board member of Central Coast Networking Group Inc., she is also a past office holder of Mensa Australia and a founding member of the Distance Education Committee (USQ).

Meredith joined West Gosford Rotary in 2000 and held various Board positions, including Club Service, President and Honorary Auditor, with the club.

In 2013 she joined Gosford City Rotary Club and will take over the Treasurer’s role in July.

Meredith’s other interests include music, diving, technology and classic cars. 

Jim McCormack (Board Member)

Jim McCormack is a retired mining engineer with a passion for music of all genres – and country music in particular – plus a love of radio.

He is largely responsible for the technical aspects of todayscountry94one.

Originally from the Hunter Valley, Jim was a long term resident of the Central Coast before moving to Port Stephens in 2002, where he became involved with community radio station Port Stephens FM as a morning program presenter and the station’s technical officer. He was awarded a Port Stephens Council Community Services Award for his contribution to community radio in the area.

While still living at Port Stephens Jim was asked to help establish the todayscountry94one studios in Gosford and was awarded Life Membership for his work.

After moving back to the Central Coast in late 2012 he soon became a part of the todayscountry94one team, accepting an invitation to join the Board.

A keen sports follower, Jim has played rugby league and cricket, as well as coaching junior soccer and cricket teams at both club and representative level.

Alan Gilmour (Board Member)

 

Alan is one of the many volunteers at TodaysCountry94one and currently presents The Australian Country Songwriters Show on Monday nights and the Afternoon Show on Thursday afternoons. He is also responsible for website editing and accounts receivable and payable.

Alan has been a lifelong musician and songwriter, with a special interest in country music. He is currently the Vice Chairman of The Australian Songwriters Association, the editor and publisher of The Australian Songwriter magazine, a judge of the Australian Songwriting Contest and a judge of the Tamworth Songwriting Contest.

Alan’s background has been in banking and finance.  He holds a Bachelors degree in Music and Writing as well as qualifications in banking and finance.

 

Denise Walters (Board Member)

Denise has recently retired after owning the CRT store in Ourimbah for over 18years.

Denise’s career has always been in sales, marketing and business management, having obtained a Commerce Degree with Marketing Major from the Uni of NSW.

She has worked for  Sara Lee and George Weston Foods before moving into ownership of various small businesses across several industries – including agriculture, building, educational books andfinally retail farm supplies.

Denise is a 3rd generation Coastie, although has had stints in Tamworth and Orange with her work.

She loves all  water sports , theatre, music, and was an avid netballer at both local and representative

level.

 

Col Links (Board Member)

Colin is an accomplished and motivated sales executive with more than 40 years’ experience of leading sales and strategic business development teams across a range of media.

Colin’s experience spans newspaper advertising, magazines publishing, online, coaching and building sales teams, engaging community networks, project management, implementing new strategies or refining existing ones.

He is accustomed to challenging sales management roles in demanding, results-focused environments where he leverages his people, business and adaptive skills whilst building new business, teams and cultures.

His past community roles are Publicity Chairman of the Greater West Salvation Army

Red Shield Appeal, Vice President and or a Director of Gosford, Penrith, Blacktown and Merrylands Chamber of Commerce’s as well as being a Director of Western Sydney Business Centre and on various Western Sydney Community Committees.

Greg Hooper (Board Member)

Greg loves country life and country music. Having spent most of his life working as a Corporate Trainer specialising in Work, Health and Safety that takes him to all parts of Australia including working with blue chip companies at top end of town, to working literally at the coal face with blue collar workers in regional and remote country areas in the Top End, Kimberleys, and even Papua New Guinea on regular assignments.

Although being born and bred in country NSW, Greg is passionate about the Central Coast community, having lived here most of his life. He has been actively involved in various community groups including holding executive positions in Rotary International supporting Central Coast community groups, regional initiatives and fund raising many thousands of dollars for local charities.

Greg has had presenting and programming experience in Community and Commercial radio at various times over a thirty year period including being both a member and supporter of Todayscountry94one for several years. Greg presents his weekly program: The Travelling Country Show, celebrating the vast range of styles and themes of artists in the world of country music.
