Carmel Pickup (Station Manager)
Carmel has been with todayscountry94one since January 2009 when her then boss, David Bacon, said those famous last words..”How would you like a couple of extra hours work per week? I’m on the Board of a little community radio station and we need someone to do the accounts” – and that as they say is now history!
Since that time, Carmel’s role has grown enormously. Carmel does everything ‘business’ from dealing with sponsors and listeners, maintaining accounts and organising fundraising events; right through to maintaining the website, writing grant applications and reports, dealing with technical issues and the Communications Authorities. It is safe to say no one knows more about todayscountry94one than Carmel.
Carmel is also the Public Officer/Secretary Board Member of the newly formed Gosford/Wyong Community Radio Association Inc (a joint venture between todayscountry94one, Coast FM963 and Radio Five-O-Plus).
Carmel’s passion (apart from todayscountry94one) is to help find a reliable screening test and cure for Pancreatic Cancer. She has recently become part of a Study through the Garvan Institute – The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Genome Initiative (APGI) - as her Father, paternal Grandmother, paternal Great Aunt and three other close relatives have all died from this deadly disease.
